Lone Sloane Dilirius
Paris: Dragon's Deam/Heavy Metal, 1973. Druillet, Phillippe. 1st English language edition. Hardcover. 1st ptg thus, 4to softcover. A fully painted science fiction epic by Druillet. Along with Moebius, he was a leading French comics artist who broke into the U.S. market even before any of his work was translated. This is one of his very first collections and turned a lot of heads in the U.S. comics world. He was obviously influenced by Jack Kirby but here, like Kirby, he illustrates on an epic scale. Elaborate alien settings, bizarre people, grotesque space ships, he was breaking new ground in the world of the graphic novel. This was a huge bestseller for him, firmly establishing him as an artist to watch. Lettering by Dominique Amat. Lightly edgeworn, else fine, no previous owner's marks. Item #37655
