First illustrated (thus) edition of this classic that was first published without artwork in 1909 and went through 17 editions before Cayley was asked to create this superior edition. This is the sole printing thus, the post-war reprints are far more plentiful but smaller sized awithout the gilt decorated cover. Gilt is very slightly darkened, tips and edges lightly worn, overall a solid very good copy. Uncommon. Item #37570
