Full cream tweed cloth, 9 color plates by Edmund Dulac rerpinted from a series of 11 front page covers painted for the American Weekly in 1931, plus 4 different decorative initials previously drawn for The Love of the Foolish Angel. Drawn in Dulac's later "art deco" style using bold colors and flat, poster-like imagery, this style of his has grown popular over the years.

11 short stores of gods and mortals, such as "Aphrodite and Adonis" and "Circe and Odysseus."

Small area of light browning to upper right front board, else fine in fine, unclipped dj. The jacket is illustrated by a god with a boy and printed in silver and black on green paper.

The book is uncommon, the jacket even less so. Very short introduction to the book by Dulac himself. Near Fine. Item #29753
