Signed by the artist and numbered, #325 of 500. 25 full color, tipped in plates, with labeled tissue guards, illustrating famous churches of London, from St. Stephen, Walbook and St. Martin, Ludate, to St. Mary-Le-Strand and All Saints, Fulham.

Introduction by the Bishop of London. T.E.G. Lacks ties. Vellum lightly bowed, as is typical, with moderate but not serious soiling. Bookplate of William Ford Nichols, Bishop of California. Very, very minor foxing, A small card was once mounted on the blank front free end paper, by cutting four 1" slots, which are barely noticeable.

Garratt (1873-1955) was a portrait painter and illustrator, born in London. He taught drawing at Leys School, Cambridge, and portrait painting in America, before settling in Chelsea. He specialized in scenes of London life, crowded figure subjects such as the music hall and the riverside. He illustrated for The Graphic, Black & White, Pearsons, Punch, The Sphere and other notable periodicals, as wll as the book Lucien's Wonderland, 1899. Item #27973
